Meet Our Team

  • Allie Boman is a writer and editor who leads diverse projects with a focus on caring for her team and clients alike.

In addition to writing and editing both highly technical and general audience publications, Allie enjoys project management and developing communication strategies. Her life’s work is rooted in a deep hope that a better future is both possible and near.

Prior to founding Boman Editing, Allie spent 15 years as a nonprofit organizer in Michigan and Indiana. She is passionate about promoting well-being for individuals and communities. Her experience includes local community-engaged research, such as stakeholder meetings and public surveys. She also has extensive training in project management and strategic communication.

After serving as a marketing manager and holding other roles in a community-based nonprofit, Allie transitioned into science writing and editing, primarily working with the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine. This sparked an interest in public health, leading her to pursue a master’s in public health at the University of Illinois Chicago in 2022. Her training has included strategic management, communicating with the public on sensitive topics such as climate change and vaccines, and strengthening relationships between communities and their governments.

As part of her work with the City of Waukegan, Allie and the Boman Outreach team created a policy analysis on a key issue for the city. This project involved interviewing city staff, conducting online research, and gathering input from community members to inform policy recommendations.
